SHARD
A dance solo on post traumatic process

One circle, one dancer, one community. So many stories, lines, experiences and no end. “Shard” paints a choreographic picture of how individuals and society deal with trauma. It shares the feeling of loneliness resulting from traumatic experiences and sheds light on the post-traumatic inner states. of anger, grief, despair, guilt, fear and isolation. At the same time, it raises questions: Is truthful empathy actually possible? What does support mean in such states of emergency? What do we shy away from? What language do we find in dealing with each other? Can we hold on and endure this?

Ceren Oran succeeds very well in getting her audience to think - about themselves and about trying to support the traumatized figure in their midst. The premiere, which deals with post-traumatic inner states, which physically plays through the different emotional stages of processing and also includes the social treatment of a person suffering from severe psychological injury, could hardly begin more strikingly than with the sonorous bang already described.(...) Oran's creation is a highlight at the halfway point of the current festival.

It's only a foot, but it reveals a lot about what the person who owns it experiences. The soles turn inwards and upwards, the toes spread out from the midfoot - this is what it would look like if a body part could scream. Jovana Zelenovič’s lower extremities are the first thing that catches the eye and remain an eye-catcher as this high- tension dancer goes through various post-traumatic states.
